Caisley Eartag Ltd. has a longstanding partnership with Warrendale Wagyu and the British Wagyu Association. We offer robust, practical, tamper-proof, and easy and apply DNA/BVD tissue sampling tags (a mandatory element of the Wagyu scheme.)

With an initial order, each member will receive a complimentary applicator and mini sample storage. Typically, tag delivery takes 5 to 10 working days, varying with the season.

Collecting tissue samples with Caisley Tags is a straightforward process, eliminating the need for external or additional on-farm operations or specialised skills.

DNA and BVD Tagging Procedure

  • Order Online

Pick from two choices. Tags for newborn animals or third management tags. Opt for your preferred BVD test laboratory. The BVD test operates on a pay-as-you-go basis and you’ll receive an invoice directly from the lab once the BVD test is done.

  • Caisley process the order

Caisley team will handle the processing. Tags for newborn animals will be registered with the Government (LUIS) and printed with your herd number along with sequentially assigned individual animal ID’s. As for the secondary tags, they will be EID (electronic) flag tags featuring the Wagyu logo in the management area.

You can choose between two EID transponder options: FDX (Full Duplex) and HDX (Half Duplex). If you’re uncertain about which one is suitable for your needs, please reach out to your reader provider or get in touch with us

  • Order shipped directly to you

Your tags will be carefully packaged and sent directly to your specified address, either to you or the address provided during the ordering process. Along with the tags, we will include a sample submission form and pre-addressed envelopes for both DNA and BVD vials.

Please note there is a separate process for Fullblood Wagyu registrations – details at [email protected]

  • Tag your animals

Please carefully read and follow the provided instructions for tissue tagging. Tag your animals and collect tissue samples.

  • Send tissue samples

After application, place the vials into the provided small plastic bag and then into the pre-addressed jiffy envelopes. Take the prepared package to the post office and affix the appropriate postage. Minimum large letter postage.

Please note there is a separate process for Fullblood Wagyu registrations – details at [email protected]

  • Samples received

Upon the arrival of vials containing tissue samples for DNA testing, the registration process will commence through the scanning of the 2D code on the vials. This action will lead to the animals being duly registered within the Wagyu System.

A BVD sample will also be registered and processed, and you will receive notifications regarding the BVD test results from the laboratory that you decided to use.
